Cigar Box Guitars For Soldiers
Ok folks, here's our chance to give back just a little to our brave troops that are laying their lives on the line in Iraq. They're the ones protecting our freedoms, the first line of defense in the War on Terror.
So what can we do?
Let's give them the blues...
Cigar Box Guitar Style!
The idea is for us, the builders of Cigar Box Guitars, Diddley Bows, & other stringed things, to each contribute an instrument for shipment to our troops in Iraq. Also needed will be accessories such as strings, picks and slides.
What could be better, with the holidays coming, then to send our men and women in uniform a true piece of America. Lets give them music. Lets give them Rock & Roll.
Lets Give Them The Blues!
Lets also keep this as simple as possible. If you're interested in taking part, contributing an instrument or accessory, either e-mail or call me at the address and phone number listed at the bottom of this page. This is just so I can keep a list of who is contributing what, and also so I'll have some concept of how much stuff we'll be shipping.
I'm still investigating shipping methods and costs, and contacting the military, politicians and existing groups created to send care packages to our warriors. I'll have more info as time progresses, and will post it both here and on Shane Speal's CBG Forum on Yahoo.
Also, as time goes on, I'll be posting certain military regulations that are now in effect regarding packing, and just what you can and can't send to Iraq (the military is being pretty strict on things these days).
But for now, just drop me a line and tell me what you've got in mind.
This is a group project...I've just volunteered to make sure the ball starts rolling and keeps rolling. Any ideas, suggestions or comments are more than welcome.
Now....let the building begin!
